Healthcare allowance
Everyone who lives or works in the Netherlands is required to take out basic health insurance. This is essential to cover medical expenses and to ensure you have access to the care you need. At you start with Covebo, we can arrange this health insurance for you. A monthly amount will be deducted from your salary for this.
But did you know that you might be eligible for a healthcare allowance?
What is healthcare allowance?
If your gross income is below €39.500 per year, you could be entitled to a healthcare allowance. This is a monthly contribution from the Dutch government to help cover your healthcare costs. Depending on your income, the healthcare allowance can be as much as €131 per month.
What does annual income mean?
Gross annual income, or your yearly salary, is the income you earn per year from work.
You can easily calculate your gross annual income by multiplying your gross weekly salary (including allowances) by 52 weeks and adding 8,33% holiday pay. For example: €576.93 (weekly salary including allowances) x 52 weeks = €30,000.36 + 8,33% holiday pay = €32,400.38, which is your annual income. Check your SV-loon on your payslip for an indication.
